Triumph, Adam Curry's wonderful rip-job and more Homicide
WILT Wednesday: What I am listening yo podcast recommendations
The #1 listen of the week is Adam Curry and Dave Jones taking down On The Media. The TLDR (TLDL) is that the On The Media folks talked about how they will begin to do live reads. Eventually the conversation turns to, paraphrasing, how making a show that doesn’t have commercial value isn’t bringin in commercials.
Guys, there’s no God-given right that you get to make a show about whatever you want and have 12 well paid people working on it.
Adam and Dave NAILED IT
And here’s the full episode of On The Media if yo'u’d like to hear it yourself. I like the part where they eyeball shows that are just people interviewing people…
…like I dunno, this best of they recently put out where they interview Rob Walch from Libsyn???
…anyway On The Media explained how their shows are really well edited and a lot of work goes into it and stuff.
All that distracts from what I wanted to lead off with…
I can listen to Robert Smigel tell stories all day, but Triumph The Insult Comic Dog making fun of SiriusXM being a dying medium really made me laugh.
And now look at you. You're on satellite radio.
Satellite radio, the wave of the past.
Sirius XM, the abandoned mall of the entertainment industry.

Hey, don’t get mad at me, get mad at the puppet.
Here’s a very funny episode of The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi. I don’t want to spoil it, but his guest’s discussion of popsicles is…wow.
Gianmarco was my guest on Saturday’s Daily Comedy News which appears to have updated its artwork.
Another great episode of Homicide: Life On The Set, this one with producer and author of the original book, David Simon!
I find the ins and outs of podcasting fascinating. Here’s what went in to the new version of Overcast.
The Big Story is kinda The Canadian Daily, but I actually find it way more attuned to my interests. I liked this conversation about the Climate Emergency and how strategic retreats are needed, and how we are 30 years late adapting but we still can do things.
