Lazy Video Podcasts doing better than Trying Video Podcasts?
I tried less hard and my numbers went up
Things seem quiet in Podcasting Land this week unless you want to argue about Video again. Over the weekend I got annoyed with my Youtube views for Daily Comedy News, so I went back to Headliner Cover Art videos and the numbers went UP. More views and hours back in my life? Awesome.
So I don’t even know any more. Only make lazy videos?
I also don’t really see any reason to bother uploading video to Spotify, so this week’s pivot for me is Tap The Breaks and just make audio podcasts. Some even say Video is Overblown.
Thanks to James Cridland and Sam Sethi for letting me keep Sam’s seat warm last week as I co-hosted Podnews Weekly Review. As I said on the pod, I tend to throw fastballs in the substack, so if you’d like to hear me be a little more nuanced or hear my actual tone of voice, check it out!
Apple announced a few tweaks to the podcasting app for iOS26. The bots took a look.
Weird troop movements? A military parade? Acting President….it’s like a Sunday Night Streaming Series for your ears!
Elon vs. Trump is fun.
After all it is quite the week for news and politics…and we still have that parade coming this weekend!
I know it’s trendy to hate on the show, but Joe Rogan puts out good content. I partially liked this 3 hour discussion with Bono.
Goalhanger is putting out the best podcasts in 2025. I’ve been on an Empire kick, starting with the Yalta episodes, rolling into postwar Berlin.
And that’s it. Hopefully someone will write an article telling us we need our podcasts to be on FAST Channels or something so we can all obsess over the new shiny object.
Misplaced Midrolls and the Fall of Podcast Civilization
Before we begin, happy Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Day. Every year on this date I rewatch the film which hit theaters on June 4, 1982 and is the pinnacle of Star Trek (even though I like TMP even more better.)
