Can 2 dudes with Macs keep up with the big guys? (Podcasting)
A USB mic, a macbook and a willingness to hustle can get a lot done.
Nice job by Mark Francis by keeping up with breaking news on the newly retitled Celebrity Trials. We’ve had a run of breaking news lately where Caloroga has been able to be just as fast as the big boys, and even faster than some well staffed companies. News has a way of breaking on Saturday nights when nobody is in the office…although the Diddy Trial did kindly pick a Wednesday morning, whereas there’s an 85% chance some Major News Story breaks Saturday Night at 8:35pm.
Anyway, this show has been a breakout hit for us - and now gets the new title so we can keep the series going. Luigi Mangione anyone?
Get this - I was in New Jersey, listening to a soccer podcast and got served an ad for…a soccer game in New Jersey! Now that’s how we do it folks!
Let’s stick to sports. I guess Jimmy Traina and Richard Deistch read my little substack and took my advice because they did a podcast together, which was of course great. These two should be afternoon drive on WFAN New York.
Speaking of radio….did you see Audacy and iHeart did a deal to put the Audacy stuff on the iHeart app. I was thinking about this on the run this morning and I think this is the best moment radio has had since maybe September 2001. Make it easy for people and maybe they will use it.
I also notice Google Results for our Caloroga Shows showing up via the iHeart links. I am all for that, thanks for the reach.
Back to Deitsch - his newest episode is also very good.
I wrote about Springsteen’s Tracks II last week, and need to get some beach time in this weekend to listen to it some more, but I enjoyed this overview from None But The Brave.
I was talking to an industry friend about this particular show and how it’s different than how I approach things. I try to come in eye-level, so for comedy I talk more about Jim Gaffigan than Jimmy O. Yang. In all formats play the hits, so I try to leadoff with a story from someone that most people have heard of. None But The Brave sure do know their stuff….but as I put it to the friend, I think they’ve been to Too Many Shows, and I say that as someone who has seen Springsteen 50 times. You need a PhD in Springsteen to keep up wit this show….and as I wrote in my bona fides, I know my Springsteen.
Readers of my substack already have seen the Top Comedy Specials Of 2025 So Far in print, but that will be the July 4th episode of Daily Comedy News. I just came up from “the studio” (my basement) where I wanted to pretape 5, 6 and 7 but there isn’t enough stuff yet. Meanwhile, it’s pretty sunny here in The Outer Office (poolside) so let me grind some shows so I can get ahead don production.
Oh, just one more thing. I am hearing good things about this week’s Podnews Weekly Review, so don’t miss it….
…oh wait, its as TWO more things…the other being THE BEST PODCASTS OF 2025! This is of course THE DEFINITIVE LIST.
Happy 4th of July, and remember, if your favorite podcast took the week off, they are just lazy. We’ve known this weekend was coming since 1582 when we switched to the Gregorian Calendar, so somewhere in those 440 years you probably could have banked a guest or made a Top 10 list to pretape. Book a guest host if your co-host is away. Jump on “Zoom” from your Hamptons House. Johnny Mac hates lazy shows. Start working on your December 28th show now you lazy podders.
Sitting on a beach watching Youtube so my podcast doesn't get cancer (Podcasting)
I feel like I am supposed to make some sort of Industry Proclomation in these posts, but the truth is things have been pretty quiet. I am quote bored with the Video/Youtube topic, and the new thing there is every day there’s a study showing why you absolutely have to do Youtube or your podcast might get cancer, and then the next survey says not to worr…
